A Consulting Firm that Helps Organizations & Leaders Build a Culture of Empathy
About Empathy4Equity

Empathy 4 Equity is a consulting and capacity-building firm that helps organizations lead with empathy and operate through the lens of equity.

Founded by Nasra Wehelie, a longtime civic leader and advocate, Empathy 4 Equity partners with mission-driven organizations to build cultures where people feel heard, policies reflect shared values, and performance is driven by purpose, not pressure.

We believe empathy is not a soft skill. It’s a strategy. It’s how we create real, lasting change in systems that weren’t built with everyone in mind. In today’s divided and complex world, empathy allows us to slow down, listen deeper, and design solutions that honor the people and communities we serve.

According to the 2024 State of Workplace Empathy Study by Businessolver, 52% of employees stated they'd stay longer at their jobs if their leaders showed empathy. For Empathy 4 Equity LLC, this 2024 data highlights a clear opportunity. Embedding empathy with intention and structure leads to a healthier, more resilient culture, empathetic leadership, and stronger organizational performance. That’s why our services, including tools like the Emotional Intelligence Profile and Equity Impact Assessments, are designed to bridge the gap between empathy as a value and empathy in action.

Nasra Wehelie

Nasra Wehelie is a bridge-builder, equity strategist, and community leader. Born in Somalia and a proud Dane County resident for over 30 years, she brings the perspective of a Black, Muslim, Somali immigrant woman who has often been the only one in the room—whether on nonprofit boards, school district task forces, or in government spaces.

With over 15 years of nonprofit leadership and service on 15+ boards and 20+ committees, Nasra has dedicated her life to advancing equity, inclusion, and systems change. Her lived experience and academic background—BA in International Relations and an MBA—inform her belief that empathy isn’t just a feeling, but a practice for transforming workplaces, communities, and institutions.

"Nasra at Empathy 4 Equity helped guide Associated Physicians through the cultural changes we needed to make our space more welcoming for our patients and staff. She effortlessly made people feel comfortable and safe as she completed her assessment through surveys, focus groups, and interviews. With her warm smile and big heart, she gave us feedback in a positive, constructive and nonjudgmental way, showing us by example how we should conduct ourselves and treat each other when we engage in challenging concepts and conversations. Nasra is exceptionally skilled as a small group facilitator. "

People are at the heart of every organization and we work with organizations to foster a culture of care, trust, and shared purpose.

People
Policy

At Empathy 4 Equity, we support leaders in designing policies that promote accountability, belonging, and long-term impact.

Performance

Our strategies focus on developing empathic leaders, supporting employee mental health, and fostering conflict resolution practices.

Let's Work Together
